Coach Four's coming home

At the moment we are driving down the motorway watching a beautiful French sunset. We have left Lourdes behind and are racing ever closer to home.

The end of the pilgrimage has been perfect. Last night we had our reconciliation party, and got cake, a medal, sweets and glow sticks to celebrate our forgiveness!

We then had a lovely night prayer about faith in others, before heading to the Riviera Sol for our last night singing joined by Coach 3 and 7.

I have never had a better night. Approx 150 people all stood in a circle singing 'Let It Be' together is both very moving and just very very cool. It was lovely to get together and talk, play and sing with the other people from the other coaches. Really brings the entire youth together, and was the perfect last night in Lourdes.

For our last day we took the pilgrims to the Blessing of the Sick in the Underground Basilica. It's always moving to watch the pilgrims be anointed, and I like that we who have cared for them get to experience it with them.

We then took them to the Farewell Mass where we gave thanks for the week and to the people who made it happen.

Then we had a little time to get sorted (quick quick fill up your holy water bottles and buy your last minute bracelets!) before heading over to the youth farewell service. We sung, and clapped and we heard about other people's Lourdes experiences. We then walked through our Door Of Faith to receive our badges and a blessing.

At the beginning of the week, I didn't quite understand what "Opening the Door of Faith" meant. It's a simple concept really. Opening yourself, and saying yes to your faith. Towards the end of the week, I understood. It's about actively doing something, and letting your faith into your heart. Being a young religious person comes with its struggles, but coming to Lourdes and being around similar people sharing your struggles, makes you realise, you are not alone.

This week has been brilliant. I've laughed, cried, and prayed. Made friends, shared in faith and had an unforgettable week. We've come on a journey that started by posting that form, but never really ends. We carry Lourdes in our actions, in our faith, and in our heart.
